When Clint had looked outside and noticed the rain, he started to question whether or not he wanted to take his sore, bandaged body outside to walk Lucky.

When Clint had looked outside and noticed the shark rain, he hid the leash in the closet. "Sorry boy, you've got to hold it for a little while."

Lucky looked out the window too at that, and didn't seem to have any complaints.

By the time Kitty got from the Kwik Stop back to Clint's, she was wet, and tired, and since he knew she was coming over she just went ahead and phased through the wall, trying not to drip on the floor.

"Pretty sure I just concussed a hammerhead on the way here."

"What the hell?" Clint said, getting up from the couch to go over to her. "Are you all right?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," she assured him, a little hesitant to touch him while dripping. "Just wet, and ugh. Ugh."

Yeah, well, Clint didn't mind getting a little wet, judging from how he was pulling her into a hug. "How does it rain sharks? I just--yes, ugh."

Okay, well, she was totally glad for the hug, though she was still being careful considering he'd like broken his torso the other day. "I've decided Fandom is grounded, and I want to go somewhere where there are no sharks."

You'd think that would be anywhere. You'd think.

"Are you just saying that, or do you mean it?" Clint asked. "We could go somewhere? Without sharks or rain or anyone who knows us?"

"I think I mean it," she said. "At least it doesn't rain sharks anywhere else, you know?"

"That we know of." Not that Clint was wary or anything. "Are you sure you're not hurt?"

"Totally fine," Kitty told him. "A little freaked at having been swimming with sharks without knowing it, but I'll live. Mind if I make with the clothes-stealing? I'm kind of tired of these."

"Absolutely. It'll make my clothes smell like you," Clint said with a smirk. "Lucky is fully prepared for cuddling, but that's his typical state."

"And this is why you're my favorite boys," Kitty grinned, leaning in to give him a kiss. "I'll be right back."

"Aww, did you hear that Lucky, we're her favorite," Clint said, scratching Lucky's head as they headed back for the couch. As much as Clint might have been pretending to be strong, he really did need to rest a little, when Kitty wasn't looking.

Kitty went upstairs and was gone just long enough to get out of her wet clothes and hang them up to dry a little. She came back downstairs in one of his shirts and a pair of boxers, basically because she could, and came to sit with them on the couch. "This is so much better, you don't even know."

"Oh yes, so much better," Clint said, sliding his hand up Kitty's leg because hey, contact was comforting, right? "You're not leaving again until everything's back to normal, fyi."

"Oh, is that so?" she asked, shifting a little closer if he was going to do that to her leg.

And yeah, she hadn't been planning on leaving for a while.

"Yup. And I'm willing to use whatever tricks I have to to keep you from leaving, so you probably just shouldn't even try," Clint said with a solemn nod.

"But this is the perfect shark-killing outfit," Kitty teased.

"You are not getting shark bits all over my clothes," Clint said, pressing himself closer. "And I just got you here and you're starting to get dry again..."

"You did just get hurt a couple days ago," Kitty pointed out, since that was a big worry for her.

"I'm fine," Clint said automatically. "Wait, no, I mean, you're right, I'm still hurt and I can't function by myself. Does that mean you'll stay?"

Kitty giggled, leaning more against him. "Yes. Though which one of those gets me to stay longer?"

"I might still be feeling bad for the whole rest of the day," Clint said, putting his hand on his side, though not where Kitty was resting against him because that was just fine. "I'll totally repay you for taking care of me."

"Well, with that kind of promise, I guess it'd be terrible of me if I didn't stay all day," she said, like there was anything at all to consider here.

Lucky wedged himself against the side of Kitty that wasn't pressed against Clint, because he was the best backup ever.

"It wouldn't be terrible. It just wouldn't be smart, and you're very smart," Clint said with a grin.

"Oh, I see how it is," Kitty laughed, using the hand closest to Lucky to give him scritches. "You're ganging up on me."

"It's not ganging up on, it's teamwork," Clint said, sliding his hand up a little higher on Kitty's leg. "Working together to ensure everyone gets what they want and need."

Without even thinking about it, she parted her legs a little more, you know, just to get her leg closer to him. "I said I'd stay. Does this mean you haven't gotten everything you want yet?"

"Yes, yes it does. Lucky, don't look," Clint said, leaning in to give Kitty a kiss.

Kitty kissed him back, and was smiling when she pulled back a bit a minute later. "Happy now?" she teased.

"Much happier," Clint said. "Were you serious about a vacation? Because I was thinking about that, but only if you're up for it."

"Completely," she said immediately. And gratefully. "I need a little break from the weird. You were thinking about it?"

"I could use a little break from... well, everything. I guess I should confess my initial thought was to go somewhere by myself but it took about a minute for me to realize that a) it wouldn't be worth it to go somewhere without you, and b) if I left town without you, you might kill me."

Clint was learning, he really was.

"I like this honesty thing. And yeah, if you'd taken off after Madripoor there'd have been a fight," Kitty said, but she was smiling. It was the 'wouldn't be worth it' comment that got that reaction. "Where were you thinking?"

"Somewhere in Europe, with a nice view," Clint said. "Maybe not a beach, but somewhere with a nice hotel and decent weather and enough people around to blend in."

"That sounds perfect," Kitty said, resting her head on his shoulder. "Far enough away, no sharks, we can probably figure out enough of the language to get by but not enough to have to deal with people..."

"I know a bunch of languages. Not perfectly, but enough to keep us out of trouble," Clint said with a little shrug, not wanting to make Kitty move from how she was so nicely curled against him.

"This is a thing I didn't know about you but really should have figured. Any in particular you want to put to use?" she asked.

"I haven't gotten to use my French in a while," Clint said after thinking about it for a bit. "We can reward ourselves for not dying recently by eating really good food?"

"I love your brain so much," Kitty decided. "I like it. Don't suppose we can just leave tomorrow and stay till at least our anniversary?"

Stupid having actual responsibilities.

"I don't think the school would like us to be gone for... that long," Clint said in a hopefully smooth manner because, well, the exact date of that anniversary might have escaped him. "But we could get away for at least a few days, maybe?"

"Valid point," she said, and looked up at him. "Do you know our anniversary?"

He totally got a pass considering the last few weeks (and the fact that Kitty only knew it because it was in her phone), but she had to see what he said.

"Yeah, totally," Clint said, because he spoke before he thought. "I, uh... I think the concussion's making it hard to keep track of what day it is though, so I'm not sure exactly how far away it is."

[throughaphase]

"Uh huh, the concussion," she repeated. "It's the eighteenth. Two weeks from today." See, she was helpful.

"Ah, right. Well, no, we can't stay away that long." Booo.

"I know, but a girl can dream," Kitty sighed. "When do we want to do this? It probably wouldn't hurt to get you healed up a little first."

Clint rolled his eyes, but he couldn't necessarily argue with that logic. "Want to go this weekend?" he asked. "I'll have time to heal, you'll have time to pack, and we can have a nice weekend for a change."

"Any weekend I get to spend with you is nice," she said, and paused. "...Minus the parts with sharks and ninjas and shootings. Anyway, I like this plan."

"Great. I'll get everything set up then," Clint offered. "It'll be really nice to have some time together away from everything else."

Kitty leaned over to kiss his cheek. "Alone time, somewhere romantic, no work, no worries about whose place we'll stay at, and we get some relaxation time before the next weird thing happens. This is our best plan."

If Clint was paying attention out his window, he would see a shower of glass from the storefront of the vacant business next door exploding out into the street as Batman rode a shark that was apparently desperate to escape. He held on as it flopped down the street, bucking wildly to lose the caped crusader to no avail. With every leap, Batman drove another punch into the shark's belly, until the process of flopping around was too painful.

Only then did Batman get up and fire a grapple at another shark whizzing through the air above. And then, he was gone, off to take down another straggler.
