Clint had been willing to wait things out when he thought the hurricane was just going to bring some rain, but now that this sounded like a Serious Business storm, he had enough self-preservation to take some of the wood Kitty had brought back to the house, and get to work on the windows.

Lucky and Rook were very interested in what all the banging was about, but were thankfully staying out of his way, while Clint calculated how much dog food they might need if this storm was as bad as the radio said it would be. "Sorry guys, you can't help," he said. "I wish you knew how to use a hammer, believe me."

Kitty had gone out earlyish to get supplies, and returned in a rickshaw. It wasn't that she'd gone overboard, but she'd had dog food on the disaster preparedness list she was going off of, and those hot unwieldy.

"I've decided I don't like hurricanes," she announced, carrying bags inside.

"I don't think many people like hurricanes, except those storm chaser types," Clint said. "But their judgement isn't really trustworthy, obviously. Do you need any help carrying things?"

"Nah, I'm good. Stay hot and hammer-y," Kitty said, just dropping everything inside and coming back. "Need help with that?"

Clint snickered and motioned to one of the boards. "Sure, would you mind holding that while I nail it down? I might flex a little, consider yourself warned," he teased.

"How dare you be distracting in a time of crisis," Kitty teased, holding the board up as directed.

"You know, if the storm is bad, we might be stuck inside for a few days," Clint said with a gleam in his eye as he nailed the board down. "We'll have to keep ourselves occupied until the wind dies down."

"Gee, I wonder how," she laughed. "I'm all for it, as long as the roof isn't being blown off."

She hoped the roof didn't get blown off, because it'd absolutely happen at a bad time.

"I think the house is pretty sturdy. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near the warehouse district or the preserve when the storm hits, but we'll be fine here," Clint said. He was half saying that for Kitty's benefit, and half to convince himself. "And hey, weather people are wrong all the time."

"True. It does kind of make me want a basement, though," she admitted. "Though is that bad in a hurricane? I'm used to tornadoes, aside from ever actually getting a tornado."

"I'll be honest, I haven't been through that many hurricanes. I figure it's like a tornado, stay away from windows, don't use power if you don't have to," Clint said. "Do you think anyone in town is going to run into trouble?"

"Couldn't say. On one hand, there's always someone running off into the middle of trouble." IT WAS KITTY. UNLESS SHE WAS A LION IT WAS ALWAYS KITTY DOING THAT. "But this also is really normal and there's nothing to fight, so maybe people will actually stay in?"

"People should have plenty to do, even without power. Non-dirty things," Clint said with a smirk. "It's nice having some warning, and I also appreciate dealing with something more normal."

"I kind of don't know how to handle it. I'm used to aliens and getting stuck in space bullets and alternate realities, I don't know how to cope with natural disasters."

She paused. "I sound crazy, don't I?"

Clint laughed and leaned over to give Kitty a kiss. "No crazier than the rest of us," he said, covering the last bit of window with wood. "I just hope we don't really lose power, or it's going to be kind of dark."

"I have candles and flashlights and taplights so no one falls down the stairs," Kitty assured him. "So, slightly less dark."

"You're so good at being prepared. I would have boarded myself in and forgot food or something simple," Clint said. "Is the bar going to be okay, you think?"

Kitty made a face. "I hope so. I'll check in again before it gets bad, but the zombies are taken care of, and I put all the glass away. And Steve and I boarded up it, the gym and Stark's, so I'm not sure what else can be done."

"Aww, you're keeping me from having to fill out painful paperwork. You're the best wife," Clint said, giving her another kiss.

"I gotta do something to keep you invested," Kitty teased, kissing him back.

"Right, because I'm not crazy in love with you or anything," Clint said, laughing. "Promise you'll help me un-board the windows when the time comes?"

"Promise. And not just because I enjoy sunshine and not feeling claustrophobic in a boarded up house," she agreed.
