25 Unicorn Street, Wednesday Morning

Clint had been in an awful mood yesterday, and he wasn't doing much better today. His fuse had been so short that it was practically non-existent, and when he realized he was going to end up snapping at someone at the gym, he'd gone home and sent Barney a series of text messages to find out how things were going in New York. Kitty coming over had helped a little - never let it be said that she wasn't an awesome distraction from the crapfest that was his life - and Clint was glad she'd decided to stay for the night.

But now, Clint was laying in bed and scrolling through his messages, rereading everything he'd sent to Barney. Clint hadn't gotten a single response, and he couldn't stop thinking about the possible reasons his brother was ignoring him. Did Clint's messages piss him off? Was Barney hurt and unable to respond? Did he get fed up with Clint and leave again? No matter what the reason was, there was no way Clint was going to manage to go back to sleep.

Kitty had sort of started to wake up a little bit ago, but wasn't in any big rush to wake up for real yet. Her awesome mood from yesterday hadn't really carried over, leaving her feeling pretty aggressively fine. She'd take it.

"Morning," she mumbled, scooting closer.

"Oh, uh, morning," Clint said, reluctantly setting his phone down to snuggle with Kitty. "I didn't wake you up, did I?" Because he was a horrible boyfriend and all.

"Nope. Morning did that," she said, draping an arm around him and making herself nice and comfortable. She was already pretty comfortable, but this made it better. "What were you doing?"

"Nothing important," Clint mumbled, scooting closer. "Are you okay?"

"I am perfect," Kitty replied. "Why wouldn't I be?"

[so_hawkward]

"I don't know. Just because?" Yeah, that was a really stupid statement, Clint. "Sorry, I'm thinking maybe I didn't sleep so well."

"Well you were really stressed yesterday," she said, running her hand over his side. "Thought I took care of that for you, though."

That got a smile out of Clint. "You definitely did," he said. "You're really good at that, even when I'm feeling bad."

"Yeah, I am," Kitty grinned. "Just relax. You've got nothing to be doing right now, right?"

[so_hawkward]

"Right. Yeah," Clint said, trying to relax against Kitty and failing miserably. "Did Barney seem angry the last time we saw him?"

"Not that I noticed," she said thoughtfully. Not that she'd have thought much of it today if he had been. "Why?"

"He's not answering my texts," Clint said, curling up against her a little more for comfort. "I don't know if he's mad at me or if something's wrong."

Of course those were the only options!

"He's probably just busy," Kitty said, giving him a little hug. "Or still sleeping."

[so_hawkward]

"But I messaged him yesterday," Clint whined said. "I wonder if he's ignoring me."

[throughaphase]

"I'm sure he's not ignoring you. His phone could have died, or broken, or maybe he has it on silent, or he's out and left it at home," she said. "He'll get back to you."

Let's see if this didn't end in her sending Barney a Text your brother back already, god text herself.

"You're putting a lot more faith in my brother than I am," Clint said, closing his eyes as he rested against Kitty. "You really think he's not in trouble or anything? I keep wanting to send more messages and ask, but I don't know if that's going to make it worse."

This was going to be super embarrassing tomorrow.

"No, you've probably sent enough messages," Kitty assured him. "I bet you everything's good and he's got a totally boring reason for not responding."

And if not, she'd still be pretty chill about it.

"Okay." After a moment, Clint added, "You're not just saying that to get me to stop complaining?"

[throughaphase]

"I'd never do that," Kitty said, leaning in to kiss his jaw. "Besides, you're not complaining. You're just voicing valid concerns."

[so_hawkward]

Clint made a quiet, happy noise at the kissing. "Oh, sure, go ahead and be logical," he said, tilting his head up so Kitty would have more room to kiss.

[throughaphase]

"Okay," she said, taking that as an excuse to kiss his neck. "I am doing this to make you feel better, though. How's it working?"

"It's working. Definitely working," Clint said, feeling some of his anxiety subside just a little as he got more distracted. "You're very good to me, you know that?"

"I try," she said, nipping at the skin there. "Keeping you happy is kind of hobby of mine."

In part because she got to do things like this.

Yeeeah, it was hard to be discouraging when he was feeling nice. "I don't know, I'm still feeling a little not happy," Clint said, half teasing and half truthfully.

Apparently she wasn't feeling that lazy, because she had no problem rolling over a little to get a better angle on his neck. Also, because this made it easier to get a little handsy. "Bet I can fix this for you."

Clint and Kitty's week: fixing bad moods via dirty.

Clint had no problem getting handsy, sliding his hands over Kitty's back. "I bet you can. You're pretty skilled like that."

"I do get a lot of practice," Kitty smiled, leaning down to kiss him.

[so_hawkward]

There was a little voice in Clint's head insisting that he was going to mess this up, but it was pretty easy to ignore by kissing Kitty back and pulling her on top of him. "We could practice some more, if you want," he said, only slightly wary.

"We could do that," she smiled, kissing him again.

And hey, even if he did mess this up, Kitty wasn't gonna be bothered by it today anyway.
