Kitty's Apartment to Fast Eddie's, Saturday Evening

As it turned out, Clint was glad he'd told Kitty that he'd surprise her with where they were going tonight, because it gave him time to weigh his options. Fandom had an awful lot of places to take someone for food and drinks, but there seemed to be only one place with food and drinks and games he could beat Kitty at.

Look, being impressive to a girl who could make herself intangible was hard, okay? He had to take his opportunities where he could get them.

It had been a while since he'd done anything like this, but Clint was determined to not let that show. When he got to Kitty's apartment, the only thing left to do was knock on the door and hope for the best.

Yeah, Clint had no complaints about that top at all, and he was trying not to stare, but he was only human. "I definitely feel like I might be in trouble," he deadpanned, taking his time leaning over the table to line up his shot and sink that solid ball in. She had said not to let her win, after all.

Like she wasn't checking him out while he was doing this. That was probably about 75% of why people played pool. "Just you wait. You have to miss sometime."

"Only because we're playing pool. If we were shooting something, I'd never miss," Clint remarked, taking his time with the next shot as well, because hey, maybe he liked being checked out. Luckily for Kitty, she was right, and he did miss.

"Oh, I know better than to challenge you to a shooting competition." She'd seen him with the bow, after all.

She looked over the table a moment, then aimed with the cue to try and hit a striped ball in the hole... and somehow managed to ricochet it and sink a solid instead. "You're welcome for that."

Clint laughed. "Are you trying to let me win? Because I don't want that either." Pool wasn't the same as shooting with a bow, but it was all about angles and hitting things with just the right power and... well, Clint was good at the first part, at least. He got his first ball into a pocket, but the second one didn't go in, although it did push one of the striped balls closer to sinking.

It totally didn't count as helping if Kitty still had to get it in, right?

"No, I'm just this awesome, okay?" she laughed. "I got one in."

His, of course.

"Now you can get a second one," he said, motioning towards the one that was almost in. "I know you can do it, I believe in you."

"Just for that, I'm dedicating this shot to you," she said oh so seriously as she leaned over to take the completely easy shot. Which, will wonders never cease, went in. "Oh, good. That would have been embarrassing if I missed."

"I wouldn't have laughed at you, I promise." And not just because he was hoping to possibly repeat this date experience.

"If I missed that, I'd have deserved all the mocking you could give," Kitty told him. "Or we'd have to pretend it never happened if you were feeling really nice. Either way."

"I could probably have been convinced to pretend. You have this way of bringing out the nice in me," Clint admitted.

That was kind of nice to hear... "I think it's because you like me," she said thoughtfully, giving him another smile.

Clint smiled back at that, because there really wasn't any point in denying it. "I think you're right," he said. "But that's okay, because I think you like me too."

"I do. Maybe a lot," Kitty admitted, and oh god, seriously, why were there nerves in saying/hearing this?

That got a grin out of Clint, and he made his way around the table to stand next to Kitty. He couldn't say he wasn't nervous too, but at least they were in the boat together. "I like you a lot too. Don't tell anyone, but I have a weakness for women who could kick my ass."

Kitty leaned her stick against the wall- blame a sudden urge to want her hands free- and turned to face him. "Something tells me you won't have to worry about me actually doing that anytime soon."

"I'd like to hope so," Clint said, setting his stick beside hers. "I've had enough of doing terrible things for a while, and I like charming you better."

Charming her was definitely working. The only way to ruin that would be to like punch a baby or deny the Holocaust or something at this rate.

"What a coincidence," she smiled, sliding her arms around his waist. "I like that, too."

Maybe Clint would get around to punching babies later, but for now, his first priority was to put his hands on Kitty's waist and lean down to kiss her. Hopefully, she'd like that too.

Maybe a little.

She hadn't thought it could actually be a relief to finally kiss someone, and the nerves seemed to have vanished, too. And if he didn't mind, she was perfectly happy to stay like this for a minute.

The pleased noise that Clint made when Kitty kissed him back was probably a little embarrassing, but it had been a while since he'd had someone in his arms like this, and it felt really nice. If she wanted to keep going, he had no problem with that at all.

If he wasn't pulling away, she was more than happy to take advantage of that. Which might have been obvious by moving her hand to the back of his neck and deepening the kiss.

That got another, lower noise out of Clint, and he slipped his hand to the small of her back to pull her body closer to his, letting her take the kiss as deep as she wanted.

Right now Kitty was convinced his noises were pretty much the best things ever, responding with a pleased sound of her own. And for as much as closer was so nice, she was trying really hard to remind herself that they were still in public. Or else she'd be a lot handsier.

It took a few more long, enjoyable moments, but Clint finally remembered the public part as well, and pulled back just enough to catch his breath. "I think I should have told you I liked you a while ago," he said.
